Crown Castle Appoints Former T-Mobile Executive Sunit Patel as CFO

Crown Castle has named telecom industry veteran Sunit Patel as its new Chief Financial Officer, effective April 1. Patel’s appointment comes after the company’s recent sale of fiber assets as part of an effort to streamline operations, particularly in response to pressure from an activist investor.

Patel previously held key leadership roles at T-Mobile, where he was instrumental in the integration of T-Mobile and Sprint following their $26 billion merger. His vast experience in the telecom sector makes him a strong fit to guide Crown Castle through its ongoing transformation.

Steven Moskowitz, CEO of Crown Castle, expressed confidence in Patel’s leadership, stating, “He (Patel) is exceptionally well-suited to help lead Crown Castle as we complete our recently announced divestiture and set course as the only pure-play, publicly traded US tower company.”

Patel’s appointment follows the announcement that Crown Castle’s current CFO, Daniel Schlanger, will step down on March 31. This shift is part of a broader restructuring of the company’s leadership team, which also saw Steven Moskowitz take over as CEO in 2022, replacing interim CEO Anthony Melone.

Crown Castle’s decision to appoint Patel reflects its commitment to adapting to changes in the telecom industry and positioning itself for long-term success.
