Muthyala joins the organization with more than 20 years of experience across investment banking, treasury management, capital markets, financial planning and analysis, balance sheet management, strategic finance, and business transformation.
Most recently, he served as Global Head of FP&A, Markets at Citi, where he led financial strategy, capital allocation, performance management, and planning for the company’s approximately $20 billion revenue Markets Trading business. In this role, he managed a global finance organization spanning New York, Mumbai, and Costa Rica, while working closely with senior leadership on strategic decision-making, capital optimization, and enterprise performance management.
Prior to that, he served as CFO of Citi Ventures and Head of Corporate FP&A, overseeing financial strategy and portfolio governance for investments in fintech, artificial intelligence, blockchain infrastructure, digital assets, and emerging financial technologies. He also led enterprise-wide planning and executive decision-support functions.
Earlier, Muthyala held several leadership positions at Citi, including Head of FP&A, Retail Services Credit Cards & Digital Lending Products, where he managed financial strategy for the company’s retail credit card business, and Head of Institutional Client Group Balance Sheet & Capital Management, where he led global balance sheet, liquidity, capital planning, and regulatory capital management initiatives.
His career at Citi began within the Markets and Securities Services organization, where he supported fixed income, foreign exchange, credit, securitized products, and securities services businesses through strategic finance and capital allocation initiatives. Over nearly 13 years with the company, he held leadership roles across trading, treasury, consumer finance, venture investments, and enterprise planning.
Before joining Citi, Muthyala held senior finance and treasury positions at Barclays, including COO for Treasury & Prime Services. He was responsible for balance sheet optimization, funding strategies, foreign exchange risk management, and fintech investment initiatives.
His professional experience also includes roles at Lehman Brothers, Cisco Systems, and Oracle Corporation, where he built expertise in corporate finance, treasury, technology, strategic planning, and operational transformation.
Muthyala holds an MBA in Finance and Strategy from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
With extensive experience in capital markets, treasury, financial planning, strategic finance, and risk optimization, he is expected to play a key role in supporting Citizens Financial Group’s growth and strengthening its position in institutional banking and capital markets.
