A new step in advancing satellite internet capabilities has been marked by China with a successful offshore rocket launch.
China launched a Smart Dragon-3 (SD-3) carrier rocket, sending a test satellite into its planned orbit to support the development of satellite internet technology. The rocket lifted off at 7:32 p.m. (Beijing Time) from waters off the coast of Yangjiang in Guangdong Province.
The mission was conducted by the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center, highlighting China’s growing capabilities in sea-based launch operations.
The Smart Dragon-3 rocket is designed for efficient and flexible launches, particularly for deploying satellites that support communication and internet services. This mission forms part of broader efforts to strengthen space-based connectivity infrastructure.
The successful deployment of the test satellite is expected to contribute to ongoing advancements in satellite internet technology, an area of increasing global focus.
