BharatPe has strengthened its leadership team with the appointment of Yugal Tiwari as Chief Product and Marketing Officer (CPMO). Tiwari brings more than 15 years of experience across product leadership, consumer payments, fintech, growth and technology-led businesses.

He joins BharatPe from Paytm, where he most recently served as Senior Vice President II, Product. His experience includes building and scaling consumer payment products, UPI offerings, banking journeys, merchant solutions, engagement programs and product-led growth initiatives.

In his new role, Tiwari will bring together his product expertise and experience in consumer engagement as BharatPe continues to develop its payments and financial services ecosystem for merchants across India.

At Paytm, Tiwari progressed to Senior Vice President II, Product after serving as Senior Vice President I. He led multiple areas across the Paytm consumer app, including UPI payments, customer onboarding, app home screen, referrals, rewards, loyalty and engagement initiatives.

His work supported improvements across activation, reactivation, retention, engagement, referrals and UPI market share.

Before returning to Paytm, Tiwari was part of the Product team at CRED. He led consumer payment products covering credit card bill payments, UPI, recharge and utility payments, and Tap & Pay. He also worked on product-led growth for UPI peer-to-peer payments.

Earlier, Tiwari held leadership roles at Paytm Payments Bank and Paytm. At Paytm Payments Bank, he served as Associate Vice President – Wallet & UPI Products and previously led Consumer Banking Products & Growth. His responsibilities covered savings accounts, debit cards, fixed deposits, money transfers, passbook, cheque and ATM journeys.

During his earlier tenure at Paytm, Tiwari helped build merchant-facing payment platforms and supported the expansion of offline payments through QR codes. He also led merchant onboarding initiatives and launched Paytm’s card payment machine as a zero-to-one product.

Earlier in his career, Tiwari worked at Facebook on advertiser insights and pre-sales tools. He received the Facebook India Impact Award for a tool adopted globally by advertising sales teams.

He began his career with ZS Associates in pharma consulting. Tiwari holds an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad.
