Under the agreement, the 16-acre open-air concert venue has been renamed Airtel Arena. District will manage programming, fan engagement and the overall experience for attendees, artists and event organisers, while Airtel will invest in dedicated, high-capacity digital infrastructure across the property.
India’s live entertainment sector is witnessing a shift towards stronger venue infrastructure and connected fan experiences, with District and Bharti Airtel announcing a strategic partnership to upgrade a major concert destination in Bengaluru.
While corporate naming rights are common in established international entertainment markets, long-term investments by telecom and technology brands in physical venue infrastructure represent an emerging model in India.
The initiative aims to address network congestion during large gatherings. Planned upgrades will support high data traffic, allowing attendees to make digital payments, livestream performances, access mobile pre-ordering services and stay connected throughout events. The improvements are expected to be deployed ahead of the upcoming concert season and will integrate with the venue’s existing cashless systems.
Developed by Go-Golf Entertainment LLP as a production-ready facility, the arena is designed to reduce staging turnaround times and lower production costs for event organisers.
Key features of the venue include:
- Capacity: Accommodates more than 17,000 attendees, placing it among the country’s largest dedicated open-air concert venues.
- Stage and production: Features a modular main stage built to international standards, with roof trusses and Image Magnification (IMAG) extensions.
- Backstage facilities: Includes a dedicated artist village, specialised logistics areas and service roads for emergency services and production crews.
- Ticketing and parking: Has an 80-foot on-site box office, parking for 4,500 four-wheelers and 1,000 two-wheelers.
Before the partnership, the Bengaluru venue had hosted major domestic and international tours featuring artists such as Bryan Adams, Arijit Singh and Anirudh Ravichander.
District and Airtel stated that the collaboration marks the first phase of broader infrastructure and service improvements planned for the facility.
Commenting on the partnership, Rahul Ganjoo, CEO of District, said, “India has fewer than ten purpose-built venues that can host more than 10,000 people. The live entertainment industry has outgrown that base, and the shortfall is now the single biggest constraint on what fans here get to experience. The industry needs more collaborations of the kind Airtel has committed to: brands from the wider ecosystem identifying where the foundations need investment, and putting capital behind closing the gap. That is what it will take to deliver world-class experiences to fans in India.”
Suchita Salwan, Chief Customer Officer at Airtel, said, “At Airtel, we believe great experiences are built on great connectivity. As live entertainment continues to evolve in India, seamless digital experiences have become an integral part of every concert—from sharing moments in real time and making digital payments to simply staying connected with friends and family. Powered by Airtel’s advanced 5G network and digital infrastructure, our partnership with District reflects our commitment to solving these everyday customer needs while enhancing the overall fan experience.”
K Vasudeva Udupa, Founder Director of Go-Golf Entertainment LLP, said, “We built this venue with an intent to provide attendees in India a world-class live experience, and give organisers, promoters and artists an efficient one to work within. Every design decision, from the modular stage to the service roads built for backstage logistics, was made guided by that same intent. With District shaping the experience on-ground and Airtel now investing in its digital infrastructure, is exactly the kind of collaboration that helps us build on that foundation.”
