In response to rising cybercrime cases, a major police operation in Assam has led to the arrest of 8 individuals allegedly involved in a cyber fraud network.

The crackdown was carried out by Barpeta Police during a special search operation in Azad Nagar, Barpeta Road. The raid was led by Samiran Baishya, along with Shyamal Jyoti Saikia.

According to police sources, the accused had been operating a cyber fraud setup from a rented house in the area for a considerable period. Acting on specific intelligence inputs, the police team conducted the raid and detained all 8 youths from the location.

The house where the operation took place reportedly belongs to a retired army personnel, Kazi Lutfor Rahman. The accused were staying there as tenants while allegedly carrying out fraudulent activities.

Officials have confirmed that further investigation is underway to uncover more details about the network and its operations. More information is expected to emerge as the probe continues.

The arrests come amid increasing concerns over cybercrime incidents, prompting stronger enforcement action across the state.
