After nearly 2 decades with Amazon, Dave Brown, Senior Vice President at Amazon Web Services (AWS) and a member of the company’s top leadership advisory group, is set to leave the company for a new role.
According to a memo from AWS CEO Matt Garman, Brown will leave at the end of the month. While the memo confirmed he is moving to another job, it did not disclose further details. A company spokesperson also declined to reveal where Brown will be joining next.
Brown most recently led AWS’s compute and machine learning services. In the memo, Garman said, “AWS business and team has never been in a stronger position, and I have never been more optimistic about the incredible opportunity we have ahead of us.”
Dave Treadwell, currently Senior Vice President of Ecommerce Foundation, will succeed Brown from August 1. Like Brown, Treadwell is a member of the company’s S-team, the senior leadership group that directly advises CEO Andy Jassy. Membership in the S-team is widely regarded as a significant leadership achievement within the company.
Brown was promoted to Senior Vice President in April and became one of the public faces of AWS, frequently delivering keynote addresses at the company’s flagship customer event in Las Vegas. He joined the S-team in 2023. Including Brown, the leadership group has 28 members.
