Expanding its focus beyond text-based AI, Anthropic has introduced a new product called Claude Design, a generative AI tool designed to create visual outputs such as website mockups, design prototypes, pitch decks, slides, one-pagers and more from simple natural-language prompts.
The company announced the launch through an official newsroom post, positioning Claude Design as a design-centric extension of its Claude ecosystem. The tool is part of Anthropic Labs and marks a shift toward more visual and interactive AI capabilities.
Claude Design allows users to generate a first draft of a design using a single prompt. The output is fully editable, enabling users to refine and modify it through additional prompts, inline comments, direct edits, and interactive controls such as sliders. The platform also supports collaborative workflows, allowing multiple users within an organisation to view and edit designs together.
Powered by Claude Opus 4.7, the tool can produce front-end interfaces, wireframes, interactive prototypes, pitch decks, marketing creatives, presentations and other visual assets. Users can start from text prompts, upload images or documents, or even connect existing codebases to guide output generation.
Anthropic stated that Claude Design can also transform static mockups into interactive prototypes, explore multiple design directions, and generate brand-aligned presentations and marketing materials. The tool is intended to streamline early-stage product design and content creation workflows.
The generated outputs can be shared via internal URLs, stored in project folders, or exported into multiple formats including Canva, PDF, PPTX, and standalone HTML files. Additionally, designs created in Claude Design can be handed off to Claude Code, which can build backend functionality based on the visual context provided.
With this launch, Anthropic is entering direct competition with established design platforms such as Figma, expanding its presence in the creative and productivity software space.
Claude Design is currently available as a research preview for Claude Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise users. The company has not confirmed whether access will be extended to free-tier users.
