As global investments in artificial intelligence infrastructure continue to surge, Anthropic is stepping up efforts to strengthen its presence in Europe.
The Dario Amodei-led company is reportedly hiring for key roles to secure data centre capacity across the region. According to a report by a publication, Anthropic is recruiting a ‘Transaction Principal’ with a salary range of £225,000 ($303,806) to £270,000. The role is described as “critical” for building infrastructure to support the company’s advanced AI systems in Europe.
The position will focus on major data centre hubs including Frankfurt, London, Amsterdam, Paris, and Dublin, along with markets in the Nordics and Southern Europe. While Anthropic has not officially confirmed its expansion plans, the hiring activity signals a strategic move to strengthen its infrastructure footprint.
This comes at a time when major US technology companies are expected to invest more than $600 billion in AI infrastructure in 2026, intensifying competition for computing resources.
Anthropic has already been expanding its global infrastructure. The company recently committed over $100 billion in cloud services spending with Amazon Web Services over the next decade. It has also secured computing capacity through partnerships with hardware and infrastructure providers and is reportedly exploring direct acquisition of data centre capacity worldwide.
Europe is emerging as a key battleground for AI infrastructure. The Nordics are attracting attention due to lower energy costs, while companies like Microsoft and Oracle are investing in data centres across Norway, Portugal, Spain, and Italy. However, challenges such as high energy costs and regulatory requirements continue to slow some projects.
At the same time, another major AI company recently paused its UK data centre plans citing similar concerns.
Anthropic is also hiring for similar infrastructure roles in other regions, including Australia, as it looks to build a global network. The move reflects growing competition among AI firms where access to computing power and energy resources is becoming a critical factor for future growth.
