HSBC expands Anjana Srinivasan’s mandate across Asia and Middle East operations

HSBC has appointed Anjana Srinivasan as Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), Asia & Middle East and Chief Operating Officer (COO), Asia International Markets, expanding her leadership responsibilities after nearly 24 years with the global financial services organisation.

Srinivasan brings extensive experience across operations, business risk and controls, operational resilience, transformation, governance and organisational effectiveness.

Before her latest appointment, she served as Managing Director, Head of Business Risk & Resilience, Asia and Middle East. She previously spent more than 2 years as Managing Director and Chief Control Officer, HSBC Asia Pacific, where she led the governance and management of non-financial risks across the region and supported work on operational resilience and operating model alignment.

Her career at HSBC has included senior leadership roles across the United Kingdom and Asia. From 2022 to 2023, she served as MD, Wealth Model Transformation Lead UK, where she led a major transformation programme covering technology, processes and people.

Earlier, as MD, Chief Operating Officer – Global Marketing, she managed strategic and operational capabilities across performance, people engagement, governance, transformation, business management and risk management.

Srinivasan also served as MD, Global Head of Business Risk and Control Management – Retail Banking & Wealth Management, where she helped develop the Chief Control Office operating model. She previously held roles as Head of Global Standards & Risk Management and Global Head – Business Risk & Control Management, overseeing teams and control frameworks across multiple countries.

Her earlier HSBC experience included leadership roles in internal control, quality assurance and operations in India.

Srinivasan began her career at Vasan & Sampath Chartered Accountants, where she progressed to audit management before joining HSBC in 2002. She started at HSBC as Assistant Manager Operations in Bangalore and later moved into regional and global leadership roles.

In her new dual mandate, Srinivasan will bring her experience in financial services operations, risk management and enterprise transformation to HSBC’s administrative and operational leadership across Asia, the Middle East and Asia International Markets.
