Amazon is reportedly considering a major investment in artificial intelligence, with discussions underway to acquire AI startup Decart in a deal valued at around $7 billion.
The proposed acquisition could happen soon if negotiations progress without disruption or another potential buyer enters the picture, according to a report citing people familiar with the matter.
Decart has developed AI technologies for real-time video editing and simulated environments. Its Lucy model, backed by Nvidia, can edit live video in real time, according to the company’s website. The startup has also built Oasis, a model that generates simulated environments to help train and test robotics and autonomous-driving systems.
Decart was valued at nearly $4 billion in May, based on PitchBook data cited in the report. The company raised $300 million in a funding round that month, led by Radical Ventures, with Nvidia joining as a new investor.
Amazon declined to comment outside regular business hours, while Decart did not respond to requests for comment.
The reported discussions follow earlier acquisition interest from Anthropic. Last month, Anthropic decided not to proceed with a potential acquisition after conducting due diligence. The company had explored a deal worth around $6 billion in August, according to a separate report.
If completed, the proposed transaction would value Decart significantly above its reported May valuation, highlighting the scale of the potential deal.
