Paytm unveils redesigned AI-powered app with new features and digital gold rewards

Paytm (One 97 Communications Ltd), India’s leading full-stack merchant payments platform serving MSMEs and enterprises, has launched a completely redesigned version of its flagship app. The new update integrates artificial intelligence-driven features aimed at simplifying, personalising, and enhancing everyday transactions for users.

The upgraded app introduces a cleaner interface along with over 15 new features designed to make payments faster and smarter for users across India, including Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) in 12 countries.

One of the most notable additions is the launch of Gold Coins, a first-of-its-kind feature that rewards users with digital gold on every transaction, turning daily payments into a form of savings.

AI-led personalisation and intelligent insights

Built with AI at its core, the new Paytm app analyses user spending patterns, automatically organises transactions, and provides personalised insights. The reimagined balance history with AI tags enables users to instantly view their total balance across UPI-linked bank accounts without adding figures manually.

The app also uses AI-powered tags to categorise monthly expenses into areas such as shopping, bills, travel, and utilities, giving users a clear, automated summary to support better budgeting.

Privacy controls have been enhanced with a Hide Payments feature, allowing users to conceal selected transactions from their payment history.

Smarter tools for everyday convenience

New features include the ability to download detailed UPI statements in Excel or PDF formats and a powerful payment search function that filters past transactions using multiple criteria. A unique Paytm Playback feature adds a creative touch by turning recent spending data into AI-generated rap songs to make money management more engaging.

Other innovations such as Magic Paste allow automatic filling of bank and IFSC details copied from WhatsApp messages, while Favourite Contacts ensures faster payments to frequently used recipients. The in-app Calculator helps users instantly total payment amounts, ideal for grocery or pharmacy bills.

The Receive Money widget enables professionals like doctors, gym trainers, and drivers to collect payments directly from their home screen without opening the app. The improved Paytm scanner now offers a visually enhanced experience with smart design, automatic flashlight activation, and pinch-to-zoom for easier QR scanning.

NRIs from 12 countries can now link their international mobile numbers with NRE or NRO bank accounts to make seamless UPI payments in Indian rupees.

“We have introduced the all-new Paytm app with a cleaner design, new AI-led experience, and innovations that make it the best payments app. With this, we are bringing intelligence to payments, where the app understands your spending, organises it automatically, and helps you manage it better. We are also giving Gold Coins on every payment, redeemable into real digital gold, so that every Paytm payment becomes a golden one. Built in India for every Indian, this is our next step in making payments truly smarter,” said Vijay Shekhar Sharma, Founder and CEO of Paytm.
