Samsung, a leading global smartphone and network equipment manufacturer, is accelerating its efforts to develop and commercialize sixth-generation (6G) telecommunication technologies. Building on its global deployment of 4G and 5G networks, the South Korean company is now looking ahead to the next era of wireless connectivity.
The company will participate in the Verizon 6G Innovation Forum in the United States, a collaboration led by American network carrier Verizon and including major technology players such as Ericsson, Meta, Nokia, and Qualcomm. The forum aims to define 6G standards and bring the technology to market in the coming years.
Samsung and its partners will work together on several key initiatives, including exploring new spectrum bands, conducting bandwidth tests, strengthening cooperation with the standards organization 3GPP, developing prototypes, and performing field trials.
AI will play a major role in Samsung’s 6G research, helping the company explore new user experiences and develop innovative technologies. Samsung’s Next-Generation Communications Research Center is already actively involved in 6G research and collaborating with mobile carriers to advance the technology.
Jin-Gook Jeong, Head of Samsung Research’s Next Generation Communications Research Center, said, “Samsung Electronics will work closely with global big tech companies to verify AI and communication network technologies that will lead the future of wireless, and bring forward the 6G era that provides innovative user experiences.”
This move positions Samsung at the forefront of 6G development, aiming to deliver faster, more reliable, and smarter connectivity solutions that will redefine the future of wireless communication.
