TCS Unveils Major AI Initiatives in Retail and Telecom Sectors

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has announced two significant artificial intelligence initiatives aimed at strengthening global retail solutions and transforming customer experience in the Indian telecom sector.

In the retail space, TCS is integrating NVIDIA Accelerated Computing into its products to deliver large-scale AI capabilities at reduced costs. According to Krishnan Ramanujam, president of consumer business group at TCS, “We help retailers gain a competitive advantage and unlock new sources of growth by combining our deep domain experience with next-generation technology at speed and scale.”

The company stated that retailers using these NVIDIA-powered platforms could cut operating costs by up to 75 per cent. TCS has already created specialised solutions such as generative AI-based content, video analytics for inventory, and real-time pricing insights. Azita Martin, vice president and general manager of AI for retail, CPG and QSR at NVIDIA, said, “By integrating NVIDIA’s technologies into their platforms, TCS is able to help retailers automate operations, deliver personalised experiences, and simulate business and operation scenarios with faster performance.”

Alongside its retail drive, TCS also announced a five-year partnership with Vodafone Idea (Vi) to modernise the company’s business support system with AI-driven platforms. The collaboration will use TCS HOBS as the digital foundation and TCS TwinX for AI intelligence, enabling greater automation, agility, and personalised services. Jagbir Singh, group CTO at Vi, said, “With this partnership, Vi is embarking on a transformative journey to redefine customer experience. By modernising our BSS platforms embedded with AI-driven innovation, we are setting a new standard to deliver faster, smarter and more personalised digital experiences.”

Highlighting the long-term collaboration, Ujjwal Mathur, president and country head of India business at TCS, added, “By leveraging our advanced AI capabilities and flagship products, TCS HOBS and TCS TwinX, we are committed to transforming customer engagement and operational efficiency for Vodafone Idea.”

TCS further noted that it already supports more than one billion telecom subscribers worldwide through its expertise in modernisation, network solutions, and AI-led operations.
