GSK has announced the elevation of Harsh V Trehan as the new Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) and Executive Vice President – Human Resources, India. Trehan, who was previously serving as People Services Lead at GSK Global Capability Centre in Bengaluru, will now lead the HR function for GSK India’s pharmaceutical business from Mumbai.
Harsh Trehan brings over two decades of diverse HR experience. He started his professional journey in 1999 with Bharat Petroleum, handling corporate HR services. In 2001, he joined GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare as Regional HR Manager for the East. Over the next few years, he climbed the ranks to become Site HR Head in 2004 and was promoted to General Manager – Human Resources in 2007.
After more than ten years with the company, Trehan moved to Compass Group India in 2013 as Chief People Officer. In 2020, he returned to GSK as People Services Lead at the Global Capability Centre, where he spent over four years before his current elevation.
In his new role, Harsh Trehan will lead the HR strategy for approximately 4,000 employees in India, including a unionised workforce. He is expected to drive a high-performing and inclusive culture, enhance leadership capabilities, and strengthen employee engagement.
Trehan’s leadership will play an important role in managing the dynamics of a unionised structure while implementing progressive people practices. His vision is to “create an environment where our workforce can thrive, build new capabilities, innovate, and deliver meaningful health outcomes for millions across the country.”
He will also work towards ensuring GSK remains an employer of choice, aligned with the company’s mission of “getting ahead of disease together.”
