Pip Cantrall Joins CSIRO as Director of Organisational Development

Australia’s national science powerhouse, CSIRO, has welcomed Pip Cantrall as its new Director of Organisational Development. In this vital leadership position, Pip will spearhead the enhancement of the agency’s internal strengths, nurture a culture that champions innovation, and craft development strategies empowering scientific talent to address some of the globe’s toughest problems.

Before stepping into this role, Pip was the Deputy Chief People Officer for Talent and Capability at a prominent Australian university. There, she led the Talent and Capability team, rolling out a groundbreaking employee listening program, revamping the performance management system, expanding leadership training initiatives, and championing diversity and fairness throughout the institution.

Pip’s journey also includes significant global experience at a major technology company in the San Francisco Bay Area, where she headed Talent and Performance for a worldwide team. Her work brought sharper clarity to talent pipelines, introduced predictive analytics tools, and supported top executives in succession planning and strategic board engagements.

Earlier in that company, she managed as Director of Talent Management Business Lead, collaborating closely with HR heads to deliver leadership development and organisational design solutions for global operations.

Pip’s foundational years were shaped at a renowned software giant where she spent nearly a decade in roles such as Program Director and Senior Organisational Development Consultant. She designed impactful talent strategies for senior leaders and high-potential employees across regions like Asia Pacific and Europe.

With her profound expertise in organisational growth, talent strategy, and leadership evolution, Pip Cantrall is poised to fortify CSIRO’s internal capabilities and cultivate a dynamic culture aligned with the agency’s ambitious scientific vision.
