Snowflake, Nasscom Collaborate to enable learners in India with data and AI skills

Snowflake, a cloud and AI data business, has partnered with FutureSkills Prime, a digital skilling program run by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and Nasscom. India’s transformation into a digital talent nation is the initiative’s goal.

By doing this, Snowflake and Nasscom want to enroll more than 100,000 students and professionals in Snowflake’s free, on-demand courses for beginners in data and artificial intelligence within the next two years. Snowflake’s global program, One Million Minds + One Platform, which aims to upskill people in AI worldwide, supports the project.

Talking about the partnership with Nasscom, Cassie Wallgren, VP of global educational services, Snowflake said, “Together, we are bridging today’s skills gap and building a future-ready workforce equipped to lead in a data-driven world. Through accessible learning pathways, industry-recognised certifications, and hands-on experience, this collaboration empowers individuals to unlock new career opportunities. It will shape the next generation of innovators, driving advancements in AI, technology, and beyond.”

In terms of AI skills penetration, India leads the world, and in terms of AI talent concentration, it ranks first and fifth internationally, according to Nasscom’s State of Data Science and AI Skills in India study. However, the need for professionals in India is predicted to surpass one million by 2026, and the disparity between supply and demand is around 51%.

“The courses offered by them (Snowflake) will equip students & professionals with the knowledge and expertise to harness the power of AI & Data Cloud, accelerating business growth and technological advancements across industries. These training programmes are designed to upskill professionals in cloud data management, AI-driven analytics, and modern data architecture, fostering a stronger, more data-literate workforce in India,” said Dr Abhilasha Gaur, CEO of IT & ITeS SSC Nasscom.

The need for qualified experts in data engineering, data science, and AI/ML is expected to rise as businesses throughout the sector rely on data to propel AI, innovation, and corporate expansion. Data administrators, data architects, and data analysts will be in more demand.

For professionals at different stages of their employment, Snowflake’s training programs offer defined learning pathways. Through on-demand modules, practical laboratories, and fundamental instruction in data management, cloud technologies, SQL, AI/ML, and data science, the introductory courses provide flexible, self-paced learning.
