TMB Appoints Former ASX Tech Executive as New CIO

Teachers Mutual Bank (TMB) has named Dan Chesterman, the former Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX), as its new Chief Information Officer (CIO). Chesterman steps into the role previously held by Christopher Olter, who left the bank in January after a brief tenure.

According to TMB’s CEO, Anthony Hughes, Chesterman joins the bank at a crucial time as it embarks on a major transformation and modernization initiative. “His experience in establishing and delivering successful technology outcomes for highly regulated businesses will be invaluable as we undertake this program of work and continue to deliver great outcomes for our members,” Hughes stated.

Chesterman brings over 30 years of experience in technology and transformation, particularly in the financial services and consulting sectors. His most recent position was as CIO and Group Executive, Technology and Data at the ASX, where he oversaw various critical operations, including data services, connectivity, and enterprise data strategy. During his seven-year tenure at the ASX, Chesterman led the development of a range of key data products, including market data, benchmarks, and DataSphere.

Before his time at the ASX, Chesterman spent over a decade at the Commonwealth Bank’s CommSec & Private Bank, where he served as CIO and led the bank’s International Financial Services division in Asia.

Chesterman, who begins his role at TMB on April 14, expressed his enthusiasm for the new challenge. “I am passionate about the potential of technology and data to shape our world. I’m looking forward to bringing my experience to the bank, at such an important time for our member-owned bank and the mutual sector,” he said.

TMB is currently focused on enhancing its services and advancing its technological capabilities, and Chesterman’s expertise is expected to play a key role in this effort.
