Virudhunagar Cyber Crime Police arrested fraudsters in fake job scam

The Cyber Crime police in Virudhunagar arrested a man named M. Kavin from Salem for scamming ₹67,000 from N. Selvaraj, a resident of Rajapalayam, by falsely promising him a government job.

According to the police, Selvaraj received a message from an unknown person claiming that his wife had secured a job at the Virudhunagar Collectorate. The fraudster told Selvaraj that he could also arrange a similar job for him in exchange for money. Trusting the offer, Selvaraj agreed to pay. The scammer then sent him a QR code, asking him to transfer money in multiple installments. Without suspecting anything, Selvaraj sent a total of ₹67,000.

Selvaraj realized that he had been deceived, as there was no job offer. He then filed a complaint with the Virudhunagar Cyber Crime police. Acting on the complaint, a special team led by Additional Superintendent of Police K. Ashokan investigated the case. Using cyber tracking methods, they traced the suspect’s digital footprints and identified him as M. Kavin. The police arrested him in Edappadi, Salem district, on Wednesday.

Virudhunagar police have urged the public to be cautious while dealing with unknown persons offering jobs in exchange for money. They have advised people to verify job offers through official sources before making any payments to avoid falling victim to such scams.
