Managing personal finances through AI is becoming more accessible, with Anthropic introducing Claude Personal Finance, a specialised tool built into its AI chatbot. The feature allows users to connect their financial accounts and receive insights into their spending and overall financial health. However, it cannot make financial changes or transactions on their behalf.
The tool will initially roll out in beta to paid subscribers in selected regions.
Claude Personal Finance: Features and availability
Anthropic announced the new feature in a blog post, stating that the rollout will begin later this week for Pro, Max and Ultra subscribers in the US.
The tool can answer financial questions in natural language and explain complex financial terms in simple, everyday language. It aims to reduce the need for users to access separate mobile banking apps or internet banking portals to understand their finances.
Users can securely connect their bank and card accounts, allowing Claude to review financial information and generate personalised insights. However, the tool has read-only access. It cannot transfer money, manage finances independently or make investments on a user’s behalf.
Anthropic also stated that, “like the rest of Claude”, Personal Finance will not include advertisements or sponsored recommendations, such as credit cards, loans or savings accounts of “its own”.
Spending insights and financial dashboards
Claude Personal Finance can create spending charts, scheduled payment calendars and dashboards based on the figures users want to track.
Users can also customise these outputs according to their preferences. For example, they can request a monthly spending chart, with the AI tool organising individual transactions into separate categories.
The feature is designed to help users understand their financial activity and access relevant information through conversations with Claude.
