RSM expands Hyderabad operations as India workforce reaches 4,200

RSM US Integrated Services India Private Limited is expanding its presence in Hyderabad, doubling its office footprint as it strengthens its global capability centre (GCC) and increases investment in talent, technology and specialised services.

Hyderabad has become a key part of the firm’s global operations, supporting teams across consulting, tax, assurance, technology, digital transformation, innovation and business operations.

The new workplace is IGBC-certified and designed to support technology-enabled collaboration. It features smart meeting and learning spaces, sensor-based room management, flexible work areas and wellness facilities. The expansion aims to help India-based teams take on more complex work and contribute further to the firm’s global growth.

RSM’s Hyderabad workforce has grown by nearly 150% over the past 3 years. Ashokkumar Prabhakar, India Leader at RSM US Integrated Services, said the firm started operations in Hyderabad around 2022–23 with about 20 employees in a co-working space. It moved into a 100,000 sq. ft. office in less than 4 years.

Across India, RSM’s workforce has increased from around 700 employees 5 years ago to approximately 4,200 today. The firm operates in Gurugram, Kolkata, Hyderabad and Bengaluru and plans to consolidate its presence in these 4 cities. Its Bengaluru office, inaugurated a day before the Hyderabad expansion, covers 1.54 lakh sq. ft., nearly 3 times its previous 60,000 sq. ft. space.

Established in 1926, RSM serves US mid-market companies with revenues ranging from $30 million to $5 billion. The firm is working to bring its 4 Indian offices together under a common culture while retaining a startup mindset.

To build its talent pipeline, RSM conducts campus hiring mainly in July and lateral hiring throughout the year to manage seasonal audit and tax workloads. Digital and technology roles are largely filled through lateral hiring to support co-creation with US teams. Consulting roles do not require mandatory certifications, while the firm sponsors certifications and provides on-the-job training for freshers. For the past 2–3 years, it has also run specialised university programmes, particularly in tax, where professionals teach, certify and onboard students.

“The firm is investing in three areas … talent, real estate and skilling, including AI, driven by client requirements, “ he said.

RSM has automated a significant part of its processes, with Hyderabad and US teams jointly developing AI-enabled platforms that automate workflows from document submission to review.

Prabhakar expects stable growth over the firm’s 3-year plan, with no substantial impact of AI on headcount. Performance is measured by client impact and contribution, not just revenue.
