Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) has marked the superannuation of Shri Vinod Kumar Chaudhary, Executive Director and Chief Information Officer, after more than 3 decades of service spanning engineering, technology and digital transformation.
An Electrical Engineer by training, Chaudhary joined ONGC in 1989 and began his career on the offshore drilling rig Sagar Kiran in Mumbai. Over the years, he took on responsibilities across electrical and instrumentation systems, maintenance planning, engineering services, project execution and strategic coordination.
His professional journey included assignments in Mumbai, Silchar, Ahmedabad, Bokaro, Agartala and Delhi. During his tenure in Bokaro, he contributed to Coal Bed Methane (CBM) operations and the North Karanpura joint venture. His time in Tripura also helped strengthen ONGC’s engineering services capabilities.
In senior leadership roles, including CEA to Director (Technology & Field Services) and later as Chief Infocom, Chaudhary contributed to the development of ONGC’s digital and communication infrastructure. He also played a role in strengthening enterprise connectivity and supporting technology-led decision-making across the organisation.
A key focus of his recent leadership was the adoption of Artificial Intelligence within ONGC. He led initiatives including the AI Task Force and the internally organised UDBHAV AI Hackathon, aimed at building AI capabilities and developing practical use cases across functions.
ONGC acknowledged Chaudhary’s long and versatile contribution to the organisation and India’s energy sector as he completed his professional journey with the company.
