Xiaomi is preparing to unveil its next flagship smartphone lineup in China this week, with the Xiaomi 18 Pro series set to bring new display technology, fresh colour options and a hardware-based privacy feature.
The Xiaomi 18 Pro series will launch in China on September 23 at 7:00 pm local time (4:30 pm IST). The lineup is expected to include the Xiaomi 18 Pro and Xiaomi 18 Pro Max. Both models are teased in at least 3 colours: Black, Starry River Blue and White.
The new phones will retain a secondary display on the rear, similar to the previous generation. Xiaomi is calling the new rear-screen experience “Versatile Back Screen” (translated from Chinese). The phones will also feature 0.99mm bezels and a “micro-arc quad-curved” metal mid-frame.
The Xiaomi 18 Pro will have a flat AMOLED display using next-generation M11 luminescent material and new green light-emitting materials. Xiaomi claims 20 percent higher luminous efficiency, up to 4,000 nits of peak brightness and an RGB lossless array. The company also says the panel can deliver “clarity comparable” to a 2K display while consuming power similar to a 1.5K resolution screen.
A key addition is the new hardware-level privacy display. The screen will use wide-view and narrow-view pixels. When activated, the wider pixels will switch off to narrow the viewing angle and help reduce shoulder surfing. The feature is similar to Samsung’s Privacy Display technology on the Galaxy S26 Ultra.
Separately, a tipster has claimed that the Xiaomi 18 series could launch in India in December. Xiaomi did not launch the Pro models in India last year, and the company has not confirmed the reported India timeline. The claim should therefore be treated with caution.
