Anthropic is expanding what Claude can do with Google Workspace, giving users more ways to manage emails and files directly through the AI chatbot. The updated connectors now allow it to send and reply to Gmail messages, while also adding more file and folder management tools in Google Drive.
More Gmail actions with Claude
With the updated Google Workspace connectors, Claude can draft email replies and, after user approval, send or reply to Gmail threads. It can also forward emails.
Anthropic says Claude will request approval before each action, including sending, replying to or forwarding an email. Organisations using Team and Enterprise plans can choose to allow these actions without requiring approval every time.
The connectors also let it access email metadata, organise messages using labels and threads, and view saved drafts within the Claude chat window.
Expanded Google Drive controls
Claude can now search for and retrieve documents in Google Drive, share, move and delete files, check file metadata, read documents and create folders. Users can also save files generated by it directly to Google Drive.
The Google Calendar connector continues to let it view events, create new events, find common availability, schedule meetings and manage attendee lists.
The Google Workspace connectors are available to Claude users on Claude and it’s Desktop. Team and Enterprise administrators need to enable the connectors before users can add them.
The update builds on the existing Gmail, Google Drive and Google Calendar capabilities available through Claude, giving the AI chatbot greater ability to take actions across connected Workspace apps.
