Vivo could be preparing a major design refresh for its upcoming OriginOS 7, with leaked test-build details suggesting a more glass-focused interface and greater control over system elements. The Android 17-based software is expected to offer Liquid Glass, regular glass and frosted glass styles, while users may also be able to disable the effects completely.

OriginOS 7 could offer 3 glass styles

Tipster Ice Universe (@UniverseIce) said in an X post that OriginOS 7 could let users select from 3 glass-inspired designs. Each style may offer different levels of transparency, blur, lighting and material effects. Recent test builds have also reportedly added an option to turn off the glass effects for users who prefer a simpler interface.

Earlier beta leaks suggest that the home screen could receive a redesigned dock with a glossy, translucent appearance. App icons may sit inside the dock, while a translucent search pill could appear above it. The interface may also feature background blur and spring-like animations when opening apps or pulling down the Control Centre.

More Control Centre customisation

OriginOS 7 could also give users greater control over the Control Centre. Early Android 17 beta details suggest that modules in the top section may be moved or removed. These could include Wi-Fi and cellular connectivity cards, the media player, sound controls, volume and brightness sliders, and connected smartwatch widgets.

The lower shortcut grid could also become customisable. An edit mode may allow users to remove individual toggles and rearrange them according to their preferences.

The leaked design has also been compared with Samsung’s reported One UI 9.5 approach. While Samsung’s design reportedly uses edge highlights, background blur and shadows, OriginOS 7 could offer users multiple glass treatments.

OriginOS 7 is expected to be based on Android 17, and Vivo has already begun recruiting users for its beta programme. The company is expected to use user feedback to refine the software before its wider release.
