Transient.AI appoints Michael Ponniah as Chief Technology Officer

Transient.AI, the AI operating system for regulated financial markets, today announced the appointment of Michael Ponniah as Chief Technology Officer (CTO). Michael brings over two decades of experience across high-frequency trading technology on Wall Street and large-scale cloud services, AI, and logistics infrastructure at Amazon. In his role as CTO, Michael will lead Transient’s global engineering, technical strategy, and platform architecture as the firm accelerates commercial adoption of its Declarative Agentic Framework across financial institutions.

As financial institutions transition from isolated point solutions to integrated, autonomous workflows, the demand for bank-grade security, deterministic governance, and real-time execution controls has become paramount. Michael’s appointment strengthens Transient’s executive team following its recent Series A financing round, recognition on the AIFinTech100 list, and the appointment of Chief Revenue Officer Hector Robles.

“Financial institutions recognize that agentic AI represents a fundamental shift in market infrastructure, but adoption hinges entirely on security, data sovereignty, and risk mitigation,” said Sreej Menon, Chief Executive Officer of Transient.AI. “Michael’s rare background—combining ultra-low latency trading systems expertise with decade-long experience building AWS-scale cloud and AI systems at Amazon—makes him uniquely qualified to lead our technical organization. His leadership will be instrumental as we scale our platform to power live production deployments for financial clients.”

Michael joins Transient.AI following nearly a decade at Amazon, where he served in senior engineering leadership roles across Amazon Web Services (AWS), Alexa AI, and Amazon’s Last Mile delivery logistics. During his tenure at AWS, he engineered novel cloud infrastructure services; while at Alexa, he led teams developing conversational AI features and orchestration capabilities. Most recently, he led engineering for Amazon’s Last Mile logistics network, overseeing the mobile and backend platform handling global delivery operations.

Prior to Amazon, Michael spent over a decade building mission-critical financial technology on Wall Street. He served seven years at Credit Suisse building risk management systems, ultra-low latency trading infrastructure, and Request-for-Quote platforms. He began his career at Citigroup focused on electronic trading and fixed-income desk technology. He holds a Master of Science in Computer Science.

“While Hyperscalers provide increasingly powerful models and foundational security primitives, regulated financial markets institutions require specialized execution environments equipped with rigorous policy enforcement, verification, and auditability,” said Michael Ponniah, Chief Technology Officer of Transient.AI. “Transient’s platform provides that institutional control plane operating within the client’s secure cloud boundary with zero data retention and continuously governing agent execution. I am thrilled to join Sreej, Hector, and this world-class team to build the foundational AI operating system that enables Wall Street to deploy increasingly autonomous AI with confidence.”

Transient.AI’s platform features bank-grade controls, including agent identity and authorization, context and data governance, policy enforcement, runtime verification, automated PII and proprietary-data protection, client-side cloud isolation across AWS and Azure, and real-time execution controls that govern AI actions before they reach production systems.
