The Kerala government has launched a sweeping overhaul of its administrative machinery, introducing AI-assisted governance, digital public service delivery, faster land acquisition, deregulation and integrated planning systems as part of a broader effort to modernise the state’s bureaucracy and improve ease of doing business and ease of living.
The reforms, rolled out over the past month, include the creation of a central programme management unit to monitor priority projects, an AI-enabled business process re-engineering cell, a review of obsolete laws and regulations, adoption of a “once-only” document submission framework through DigiLocker, and new digital platforms for public asset management, infrastructure planning and land acquisition, according to official notifications and official sources.
The reforms, announced under the leadership of Chief Minister VD Satheesan, include the creation of new coordination and policy units, a review of outdated laws and regulations, digital integration of Kerala government services and technology-enabled reforms in land management, litigation and public asset tracking.
