Huawei Nova 16 SE launch confirmed for August 5 with key details revealed

Huawei is preparing to expand its Nova lineup in China, with the Nova 16 SE now confirmed for an official launch on August 5. The company has also opened pre-reservations for the smartphone, while teasers and leaked images have revealed details about its design and expected specifications.

The launch event will begin at 2:30pm local time, or 12pm IST. Huawei is accepting pre-reservations for the device through its Vmall platform in China. The listing currently shows the phone in a Cherry Blossom Snow Sky colour option, translated from Chinese, with 256GB of storage. The company has not yet confirmed other colours or storage variants.

Official teasers show a design that takes cues from the Honor Power 2 and iPhone 17 Pro series. The rear features a large horizontal camera island with 3 camera rings arranged in a triangular pattern. The front is expected to feature a centred hole-punch display with slim bezels.

Leaked live images shared by Weibo tipsters show the Nova 16 SE in black, orange and white colour options, suggesting that more shades could be available beyond the officially teased version.

The Huawei Nova 16 SE is rumoured to feature a 6.84-inch LTPS display with a 1.5K refresh rate and up to 8000 nits of peak brightness. The phone could be powered by the Kirin 8020 processor and may pack an 8,500mAh battery with 66W fast charging support.

For photography, the handset is expected to feature a 50-megapixel primary rear camera with Red Maple imaging technology.

Earlier leaks suggested that the Huawei Nova 16 SE could be priced at around CNY 2,000, roughly Rs. 28,000.
