NASA astronaut Chris Williams and Jessica Meir set to repair Canadarm2 during ISS spacewalk

NASA astronaut Chris Williams is preparing for a spacewalk scheduled for June 30 aboard the International Space Station (ISS). Ahead of the mission, Sophie Adenot, a flight engineer from the European Space Agency (ESA), assisted Williams as he tested his spacesuit inside the ISS’s Quest airlock on June 23, 2026.

The spacesuit trial focused on checking its comfort, mobility, communications and life support systems to ensure it is ready for the upcoming mission.

During the spacewalk, Williams will be joined by fellow NASA astronaut Jessica Meir. The 2 astronauts will replace a malfunctioning wrist joint on the Canadarm2 robotic arm, helping maintain one of the space station’s key robotic systems.
