ANSR releases playbook to help UK mid-market firms build scalable Global Capability Centers

As UK mid-market companies expand globally, building a scalable Global Capability Center (GCC) has become a strategic priority rather than just an operational decision. In response to this shift, ANSR has released a new playbook outlining how businesses with revenues between £10 million and £500 million can establish GCCs that support long-term growth, compliance and operational resilience.

The guide explains that rising currency volatility, post-Brexit compliance requirements and increasing competition for AI talent are prompting organizations to rethink how they structure and scale global operations. It emphasizes that successful GCCs should be measured against business outcomes such as cost per transaction, process cycle time, employee experience, error reduction and speed of market entry, while also addressing compliance requirements including HMRC and GDPR.

ANSR also recommends evaluating global payroll services early in the planning process. Metrics such as on-time payroll, reduced compliance penalties and integrated HR systems can help organizations assess operational maturity and build a stronger foundation for multi-country expansion. The guide notes that a weighted scorecard, combined with peer benchmarking and maturity assessments, can improve decision-making and support a return on investment within 18 to 24 months.

The playbook compares 4 GCC operating models—captive centers, centralized shared services, outsourced or managed services, and hybrid Global Business Services structures. It highlights hybrid models as an increasingly preferred choice for mid-market organizations seeking the right balance between speed, cost and operational control.

The report further explains that GCCs provide greater ownership of talent, processes and intellectual property than traditional outsourcing models. This enables stronger governance, faster decision-making and better alignment with long-term business objectives while creating a scalable platform for innovation and growth.

Location strategy is another key focus, with the UAE, Singapore and India evaluated across tax benefits, setup timelines, talent availability and ecosystem maturity. While the UAE and Singapore offer advantages for regional expansion, India is highlighted as a leading GCC destination because of its strong talent pool across technology, engineering, finance and operations.

The guide concludes by recommending a structured 30-day decision sprint to help organizations move from evaluation to execution more efficiently, enabling faster location decisions and the successful establishment of scalable GCC operations.
