India-U.S. tech talks focus on AI, quantum computing and innovation

Strengthening technology collaboration remained a key focus as India’s Ambassador to the U.S., Vinay Mohan Kwatra, engaged with leading American technology and business executives to discuss emerging technologies, investment opportunities, and the future of artificial intelligence.

During a series of meetings held on June 8, 2026, Mr. Kwatra exchanged views on advanced technologies, including Quantum computing, Artificial Intelligence, and evolving innovation ecosystems. The discussions also covered investment expansion and supply chain resilience between India and the United States.

In one of the meetings, Mr. Kwatra held talks with Walmart President and CEO Chris Nicholas regarding the company’s growing investments in India. The discussions focused on strengthening business expansion, enhancing supply chain capabilities, and exploring opportunities linked to emerging technologies.

Sharing details of the meeting on X, Mr. Kwatra described it as “A productive conversation with Chris Nicholas, president and CEO of @Walmart, on their investments in India, to discuss investment expansion, supply chain resilience, and emerging technologies.”

The meeting comes as Walmart continues to expand its presence and long-term partnership with India. In June 2025, the company’s leadership had also met Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss the retailer’s growing engagement with the Indian market.

Mr. Kwatra also met Ylli Bajraktari, President and CEO of the Special Competitive Studies Project (SCSP), ahead of his planned visit to New Delhi for the India-U.S. Forum.

Highlighting the discussion, Mr. Kwatra stated, “Insightful conversation with @Ylli_Bajraktari, President & CEO of @scsp_ai, ahead of his upcoming visit to New Delhi for the India-U.S. Forum.”

He further noted that both sides exchanged views on the future of advanced technologies, including Quantum computing, Artificial Intelligence, Physical AI, and the expanding technology partnership between India and the United States.

The meetings underline the growing focus of both countries on strengthening cooperation in next-generation technologies, innovation, and digital transformation as AI and advanced computing continue to shape global economic growth and technological development.
