Colgate-Palmolive elevates Ram Raghavan, recognizing a career that spans nearly 3 decades across key international markets including India, China, Latin America, Canada, Asia Pacific and North America.
His appointment comes at a time when consumer brands are navigating rapid digital transformation, artificial intelligence-driven innovation, and changing consumer expectations. The move also reflects a broader trend among global consumer goods companies to place leaders with diverse international experience in strategic leadership positions.
Prior to becoming Global CMO, Raghavan served as President – Enterprise Oral Care at Colgate-Palmolive, where he led one of the company’s most important global business segments. In this role, he oversaw growth initiatives, product innovation, category expansion, and market leadership across the company’s oral care portfolio.
Earlier, he served as Managing Director of Colgate-Palmolive India, where he led operations in one of the company’s largest growth markets. During his tenure, he focused on strengthening market leadership, accelerating innovation, expanding consumer reach, and driving business performance in the competitive FMCG sector.
Raghavan also held the position of Vice President Marketing – Asia Pacific, leading marketing strategies across multiple countries and consumer markets. His responsibilities included driving brand growth, enhancing consumer engagement, advancing product innovation, and supporting portfolio development across the region.
His international leadership journey includes serving as General Manager of the Latin America Category Innovation Center in Mexico, where he led category innovation and product development initiatives. Before that, he was Marketing Director for Colgate-Palmolive China, overseeing brand strategy and market expansion in one of the world’s largest consumer markets.
Over the years, he has held several leadership roles across the organization, including Vice President Marketing – Colgate-Palmolive Canada, Associate Marketing Director – Toothpaste (China), Associate Marketing Director – Toothbrushes (China), Senior Brand Manager – Asia Pacific Division, Senior Brand Manager – Colgate-Palmolive India, Brand Manager, Associate District Manager, and Management Trainee.
His experience across functions, categories, and geographies has provided him with deep insights into consumer behavior, innovation, brand building, and market development on a global scale.
In a previous interview, Raghavan spoke about Colgate-Palmolive’s approach to career development, describing it as a “honeycomb” rather than a traditional corporate ladder. He noted that the company encourages employees to gain diverse experiences across functions, business units, and geographies to support long-term professional growth.
Raghavan holds an Executive Leadership MBA Program qualification from The Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth and an MBA in Marketing and Finance from Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies.
His promotion marks another significant milestone in a leadership journey shaped by global experience, innovation, and strategic brand growth.
