ViaSat-3 F2 completes major reflector deployment in geostationary orbit

A newly released image from space has captured Earth in the background as the ViaSat-3 F2 communications satellite successfully deployed its massive reflector more than 35,400 km above the planet.

The satellite, launched on November 13, 2025, aboard a United Launch Alliance Atlas V rocket, has now reached geostationary orbit at an altitude of nearly 35,786 km above Earth.

The latest image shared by Viasat on social media shows the satellite fully deploying its large reflector, a major milestone that is expected to improve broadband capacity and strengthen connectivity services across the Americas.

“Exciting progress for our ViaSat-3 program, as we focus on advancing in-orbit testing of our ultra-high capacity satellite,” the company stated in its update.

ViaSat-3 F2 is a 5,900-kg communications satellite designed to deliver high-speed satellite internet from space. According to Viasat, the ViaSat-3 satellite series is built to rapidly shift bandwidth capacity across coverage regions based on demand.

The deployment marks another important step in expanding next-generation satellite communication infrastructure and highlights the growing role of advanced space technology in global internet connectivity.

The image also offers a striking reminder of the systems operating silently above Earth that help power modern communication networks around the world.
