India’s Global Capability Centers (GCCs) continue to scale new heights, crossing $98.4 billion in economic output, with more than 100 new centers set up in FY26.

The country now hosts 2,117 GCCs, providing employment to 2.36 million people. A significant shift is underway, with nearly half of these centers moving beyond traditional back-office roles to actively contributing to global business decision-making. This transition is happening at a pace 2 times faster than it did a decade ago.

India’s GCC ecosystem is also strengthening its position in artificial intelligence. Over 250,000 professionals are currently working in AI, accounting for around 28% of the global GCC AI talent pool. More than 1,200 centers now have AI and machine learning capabilities, while over 250 have established dedicated AI Centers of Excellence.

In terms of regional growth, Bengaluru leads with more than 1,080 GCC units. Hyderabad is emerging quickly as a strong hub, especially for financial services. At the same time, newer cities such as Coimbatore and Kochi are gaining traction, reflecting the continued expansion of India’s technology landscape.
