In a major expansion move in India’s quick-commerce space, Amazon is extending its 10-minute delivery service, Amazon Now, to 100 cities across the country.
The service, earlier available only in select locations, operates through micro-fulfilment centres (MFCs) set up within local neighbourhoods. It enables rapid delivery of groceries, personal care items, fashion and beauty products, small appliances, baby products, pet supplies, and healthcare supplements within minutes of ordering.
According to a company press release, Amazon Now is being expanded significantly with the rollout of 1,000 micro-fulfilment centres. The company also stated that the expansion will support more than 16,000 farmers by helping them sell their produce directly to customers via sellers on the platform.
With this move, cities including Kochi, Pune, Hyderabad, Chennai, Kolkata, Jaipur, Lucknow, and Ahmedabad will gain access to the service. Users can check availability by opening the Amazon app and looking for the “Now” icon on the top banner. The service is already active in cities such as Mumbai, Delhi-NCR, and Bengaluru.
Products under Amazon Now are claimed to be delivered within a few minutes after order confirmation, strengthening its position in India’s fast-growing quick-commerce segment.
The expansion is backed by an investment of over Rs. 2,800 crore. Amazon said the funding will be used not only to scale infrastructure but also to improve associate safety, health, and financial well-being across operations in India.
Amazon Now was first launched in Mumbai and Bengaluru last year. With this nationwide rollout, Amazon is intensifying competition in the quick-commerce market, where it competes with Blinkit, Swiggy Instamart, Zepto, Flipkart Minutes, and BB Now.
