A new budget smartphone is set to enter the Indian market soon as HMD has started teasing the arrival of its next Vibe series device.
The HMD Vibe 2 5G is expected to launch in India in May, as confirmed by a dedicated microsite on Flipkart. While the exact launch date is not yet announced, the listing reveals a glimpse of the phone’s front design and confirms its availability on the platform.
Design and early features
The microsite suggests that the HMD Vibe 2 5G will feature a flat display with a centred hole-punch cutout, likely housing the front camera for selfies and video calls. Other specifications are still under wraps.
What to expect based on the previous model
The upcoming device will succeed the HMD Vibe 5G, which was launched in India in September 2025 at a starting price of ₹11,999. The earlier model was available in Black and Purple colour options.
To recall, the HMD Vibe 5G comes with a 6.67-inch HD+ LCD display offering up to 90Hz refresh rate and a 20:9 aspect ratio. It is powered by an octa-core 6nm Unisoc T760 chipset, paired with 4GB LPDDR4x RAM and 128GB storage, expandable up to 256GB via a MicroSD card.
The device runs on Android 15 and is promised to receive 2 years of quarterly security updates.
On the camera front, the HMD Vibe 5G features a dual rear setup with a 50MP primary sensor and a 2MP depth sensor, along with an LED flash. It also includes an 8MP front camera for selfies and video calls.
The smartphone is backed by a 5,000mAh battery with 18W wired fast charging support. It also includes a side-mounted fingerprint sensor for security.
More details about the HMD Vibe 2 5G are expected to be revealed closer to the launch.
