In a move to accelerate semiconductor innovation, Cadence Design Systems has teamed up with Google Cloud to expand AI-driven chip design capabilities using its ChipStack AI Super-Agent.
The collaboration will integrate Gemini models with Cadence’s ChipStack AI Super-Agent to enhance design automation and enable cloud-based semiconductor development. The platform is available on the Google Cloud Marketplace and is aimed at teams working on next-generation chip systems.
The ChipStack AI Super-Agent combines AI-based reasoning with Cadence’s electronic design automation tools. According to the company, the system can deliver up to 10x productivity gains across key workflows, including testbench development, regression management, and debugging processes.
Paul Cunningham, Senior VP and General Manager at Cadence, said the partnership marks a significant step forward. “By integrating the Cadence ChipStack AI Super-Agent with Gemini, we’re advancing the next generation of agentic design,” he said.
Cadence highlighted that the platform uses its Mental Model technology to enable agent-based reasoning. This allows AI agents to guide design workflows while using native EDA tools to improve accuracy and output quality.
The integration also strengthens the connection between Gemini models and Cadence tools, helping improve both productivity and the quality of chip design outcomes.
Powered by Google Cloud infrastructure, the platform supports the high compute requirements needed for AI models and design tools. Cadence said this setup enables a ‘click-to-deploy’ model, allowing teams to quickly deploy and scale chip design environments without managing underlying infrastructure.
