In a push to strengthen India’s artificial intelligence ecosystem, Amazon Web Services has partnered with SHI India to support indigenous AI model development under the IndiaAI Mission.
The collaboration aims to make AI capabilities accessible to government departments, startups, enterprises, academic institutions, and R&D organisations across the country. SHI India, which is empaneled under the IndiaAI Mission, has enabled access to AWS AI services such as Amazon SageMaker, allowing organisations to train and customise Large Language Models without needing complex AI infrastructure expertise.
AWS will also bring its generative AI technologies powered by Amazon Bedrock and Amazon SageMaker, while SHI India will provide local implementation support. This collaboration is expected to contribute to India’s goal of achieving technological self-reliance and strengthening its position in AI.
Amazon SageMaker helps address challenges related to large-scale GPU-based model training. It offers features such as automated cluster setup, checkpoint-less training, and self-healing node recovery, making AI development more efficient and scalable.
The initiative highlights efforts to expand AI adoption across sectors while simplifying access to advanced tools and infrastructure.
