Marking progress in its AI hardware roadmap, Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced on X that the company has completed the tape-out of its AI5 chip, advancing the design into the manufacturing stage.
The AI5 chip is expected to power Tesla’s autonomous driving technology and humanoid robot systems. Musk also acknowledged the role of Samsung Electronics and TSMC in supporting the chip’s production.
In addition to AI5, Tesla is continuing work on future chips, including AI6 and Dojo3. Musk had earlier indicated that AI6 could reach tape-out as early as December. Samsung is expected to manufacture AI6, while AI5 production is being handled by both Samsung and TSMC.
The development reflects Tesla’s focus on building in-house AI capabilities to support its next-generation technologies.
