Chinese technology company Huawei appears set to make a comeback in the Indian market with a new product launch, as indicated by a teaser released on the e-commerce platform Flipkart.
Flipkart has displayed a teaser banner with the tagline “Handy All-rounder” along with the message “Coming Soon only on Flipkart.” The teaser image suggests that the upcoming product will be a tablet device, marking Huawei’s first major launch in India in recent years.
The design and dimensions shown in the teaser closely resemble the Huawei MatePad 11.5, a tablet already available in global markets. Flipkart has also created a dedicated Huawei store page, which currently displays the message “Thank you! For visiting this page, Launching Soon!” However, the exact launch date has not yet been announced.
Huawei’s return to India comes after the company significantly reduced its presence following U.S. sanctions imposed in 2020, which affected its global supply chain and access to key components. The restrictions forced the company to scale back operations in several international markets.
In recent years, however, Huawei has regained momentum in its domestic Chinese market and has gradually resumed expansion into overseas regions including Europe, South America, and the Middle East. Industry observers suggest that the company may adopt a gradual re-entry strategy in India, beginning with tablet devices before expanding to other product categories.
Expected specifications of the MatePad 11.5
The tablet teased on Flipkart is expected to feature specifications similar to the Huawei MatePad 11.5 currently sold globally.
The device measures 177.53 mm in height, 262.63 mm in width, and 6.1 mm in thickness, with a total weight of 515 grams.
It is expected to include an 11.5-inch TFT LCD (IPS) display with 2.5K resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and an 86% screen-to-body ratio, supporting 16.7 million colours.
The tablet may feature a 13MP rear camera with f/1.8 aperture and an 8MP front camera with f/2.0 aperture.
One of its key highlights is the 10,100mAh battery, which supports 40W fast wired charging. The device also includes 2 microphones and 4 speakers, with audio enhanced through Huawei Histen 9.0 technology.
While the official India pricing has not been confirmed, the base variant of the MatePad 11.5 with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage starts at €299 globally, which roughly converts to ₹31,000 before taxes and import costs.
More details about Huawei’s India launch and final pricing are expected to be announced soon.
