A new leadership move at Google signals stronger focus on India’s startup, AI-native and next-generation media ecosystem.
In this role, Kapil Malhotra will lead innovation and technology adoption across India’s fast-growing startup community, AI-native companies, and new-age media platforms. His mandate is to help founders and enterprises build, scale, and transform using Google’s cloud and AI technologies.
In his new position, Malhotra will work closely with customers to enable product development, business growth, and digital transformation through advanced cloud infrastructure and artificial intelligence solutions. The role strengthens Google’s engagement with India’s emerging technology-driven businesses and media platforms.
Before this elevation, Malhotra held several senior leadership roles at Google. These included Head of Sales Engineering – Emerging Startups and Head of Customer Engineering for Telco, Media & Gaming. In these roles, he supported high-growth companies and large enterprises in adopting cloud platforms and modern digital tools.
Prior to joining Google, Malhotra built strong expertise in technology and consulting through leadership positions at Oracle, Dell Technologies, and McKinsey & Company. His background spans customer engineering, cloud solutions, and strategic consulting, giving him deep exposure to both technical execution and business transformation.
With this elevation, Google aims to strengthen its leadership in India’s AI and startup ecosystem by supporting innovation, improving cloud adoption, and helping digital-first companies scale efficiently.
