A new chapter in India’s residential energy storage market has begun with the start of deliveries of Ola Electric’s locally developed battery system.
Ola Electric Mobility has started delivering its Shakti 6kW/9.1kWh residential Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in Bengaluru. The company announced on 01 February 2026 that deliveries have begun and will be expanded across India in the coming months. The Shakti system is positioned as India’s first domestically designed, engineered, and manufactured residential energy storage solution.
Ola Electric has also secured Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) certification for both Shakti variants. The 3kW/5.2kWh model has now received BIS certification, following the earlier certification of the 6kW/9.1kWh variant on 15 January 2026. The certification confirms compliance with safety and environmental standards.
The 3kW/5.2kWh variant was tested for short-circuit protection, overload protection, electric shock safety, environmental hazards, fire and thermal risks, ingress protection, and wiring safety, as per IS 16242 (PART 1): 2025 / IEC 62040-1: 2017.
The Shakti system uses 4680 Bharat Cells and is positioned as a modern replacement for lead-acid inverters and diesel generators. It offers instant power changeover of 0 ms, supports an input voltage range of 170V–270V, and features an IP67-rated, spill-proof battery pack. The unit is designed to withstand dust, water, and monsoon conditions and has zero maintenance and running costs.
The system can power appliances such as air conditioners, refrigerators, induction cookers, farm pumps, and communication equipment. It provides backup of up to 1.5 hours at full load and supports fast charging.
Pricing for the two configurations has been announced as:
- Shakti Basic (3kW/5.2kWh): ₹1,49,999
- Shakti Advanced (6kW/9.1kWh): ₹2,49,999
The systems are available through the Ola Electric website and all Ola Electric retail stores across India.
“With deliveries of Ola Shakti 9.1kWh now commencing, we are taking a significant step forward in bringing dependable and smart energy storage to Indian homes, farms, and businesses. Ola Shakti is more than a product – it is a cornerstone of India’s journey toward energy self-reliance and a future driven by clean, decentralised, and on-demand power.”
The rollout marks Ola Electric’s expansion into clean energy storage alongside its electric vehicle business.
