A fresh software update is reshaping how users manage photos and videos on Huawei’s home storage system.
Huawei has rolled out a new upgrade for its Home Storage device powered by HarmonyOS 6, bringing deeper integration with the company’s ecosystem. The update is designed to make smart storage more accessible and easier to use, especially for media management through Huawei Gallery and third-party apps.
With the new features, third-party applications can now access images stored on the device. Users can select photos directly from Huawei Gallery while using chat apps or video editing tools. Videos can also be streamed online without downloading. Users only need to tap and play them through Huawei Gallery.
The update introduces intelligent album creation to help organize photos automatically. This can be accessed through Huawei Gallery > Albums. Users can also create images, videos, and collages with a single tap. The path is Huawei Gallery > Select image > One-click image creation / Video creation / Collage.
Another addition is the Moments album, which helps users capture and relive key memories. It is available under Huawei Gallery > Moments.
To use these features, both the storage device and connected devices must run specific software versions. Smartphones or tablets must have HarmonyOS 6.0.0.130 or higher. The Home Storage device requires HarmonyOS 6.0.0.12 or later. The Huawei AI Life app must be updated to version 16.0.0.340 or above.
Once smart access is enabled, users can sync photos and videos directly to the Home Storage. This allows them to view and manage content from the Gallery app at any time without keeping files stored locally on their phone or tablet.
The update strengthens Huawei’s focus on ecosystem-level integration, making its home storage solution more intelligent, media-friendly, and connected across devices.
