Zoho has launched Zoho ERP, a comprehensive enterprise resource planning solution for Indian companies. The product will be developed and operated from Zoho’s emerging regional hub in Kumbakonam. With this launch, the Software-as-a-Service company is expanding its presence in the financial ERP market.
Zoho ERP is aimed at helping growing businesses scale without the high cost and complex systems linked to traditional ERP platforms. It brings together company’s earlier fragmented tools into a single unified platform. This allows businesses to manage financial operations, billing, inventory, GST compliance, and payroll through one system instead of multiple touchpoints.
The solution was unveiled at an event in Kumbakonam, where part of the core development team is based.
Speaking to a business daily, Sridhar Vembu, Co-founder and Chief Scientist of Zoho, said the company plans to make Kumbakonam its finance and operations hub. He added that Zoho also aims to revive the rural economy, similar to the model it followed in Tenkasi. Vembu said the company will increase investment in the town and expand its workforce there to around 2,000 people.
Responding to questions on the slowdown of Arattai after its initial launch, Vembu said the messaging app is a long-term project and is still at an early stage.
Sivaramakrishnan Iswaran, Global Head of Finance and Operations BU at Zoho and CEO of Zoho Payment Technologies, said Zoho ERP is designed for fast-growing businesses with long-term scale goals.
“We are initially focusing on rolling out the platform for four sectors including manufacturing, retail, distribution and non-profits with more verticals to be added post-launch,” he said. He added that unlike single-purpose systems, Zoho ERP is positioned as a broader platform with a wider range of features.
Iswaran also said the product supports easier implementation and customisation without relying on third-party tools, helping reduce costs and complexity.
“Zoho ERP has been developed with the support of talent from Kumbakonam, and its future growth will also be driven from here. We are investing in building the infrastructure, and in upskilling initiatives. By creating opportunities for local youth, we are helping reverse talent drain, strengthening the regional economy, and advancing our nation-building efforts,” said Shailesh Davey, CEO of Zoho Corp.
