Motorola Signature debuts in India as brand strengthens its premium smartphone push

Motorola has expanded its premium portfolio in India with the launch of the Motorola Signature smartphone and a new moto watch powered by Polar on January 23. The launch signals the brand’s intent to deepen its presence in the high end segment, with a strong focus on design, cameras, artificial intelligence features and personalisation.

The Motorola Signature is positioned as the company’s most premium smartphone yet, with an effective starting price of Rs. 54,999. It is available in three variants including 12GB+256GB at Rs. 59,999, 16GB+512GB at Rs. 64,999, and 16GB+1TB at Rs. 69,999. Buyers can choose between two Pantone certified colours, Pantone Carbon and Pantone Martini Olive. Sales begin on January 30, through online platforms, the company website and select offline stores. Launch offers include an instant bank discount of Rs. 5,000 on select cards and an exchange bonus of up to Rs. 5,000, which can reach Rs. 7,500 for select models.

Cameras are a key highlight of the Signature. The company says it is India’s top ranked camera phone under Rs. 1 lakh, backed by a DXOMARK Gold Label and a score of 164. The phone features a triple 50MP Sony LYTIA camera system, led by the Sony LYTIA 828 main sensor, claimed to be the largest 50MP sensor currently available. It supports 8K Dolby Vision video, optical image stabilisation and Pantone validated colour accuracy. The setup also includes a 50MP periscope telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom and up to 100x digital zoom, a 50MP ultra wide and macro camera and a 50MP front camera that records 4K video at 60fps.

Powering the device is the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 processor, paired with up to 16GB LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1TB storage. A vapour chamber and liquid metal cooling system are used to manage heat during gaming and AI tasks. The phone sports a 6.8 inch Super HD Extreme AMOLED display with a 165 Hz refresh rate, Dolby Vision, 6,200 nits peak brightness and Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection. It carries IP68 and IP69 ratings. On the software side, it runs Android 16 with Hello UI and promises seven years of OS and security updates, along with moto AI 2.0 features and support for Google Gemini, Copilot and Perplexity. Alongside it, the moto watch powered by Polar features a 1.4 inch OLED display, aluminium body, dual band GPS, advanced health tracking and up to 13 days of battery life, priced from Rs. 5,999.
