Eternal names Albinder Dhindsa as new Group Chief Executive Officer

Eternal is entering a new phase of leadership with Albinder Singh Dhindsa set to take over as its Group CEO, a move that signals a sharper focus on execution, scale, and long-term strategy. Currently the CEO of Blinkit, Dhindsa will now lead day-to-day operations, define business priorities, and drive strategic decisions across the group as it looks to build on recent growth momentum.

The leadership change follows the company’s announcement that founder and Chief Executive Officer Deepinder Goyal will step down from his executive role effective February 1, 2026. The transition has been planned by the board as part of a broader effort to strengthen governance and formalise succession at the top. While Goyal will no longer be involved in daily management, he has expressed confidence in the company’s future under the new leadership.

In a letter to shareholders, Goyal said his decision was driven by a desire to pursue ideas that fall outside the framework of a listed company. “Of late, I have found myself drawn to a set of new ideas that involve significantly higher-risk exploration and experimentation. These are better pursued outside a public company like Eternal,” he said. He added that Dhindsa is well-equipped to lead the organisation forward, writing, “As Group CEO, he will own day-to-day execution, operating priorities, and business decisions,” and describing him as “more than capable of leading Eternal” into its next phase.

Dhindsa’s elevation comes at a time when Eternal is reporting strong financial performance, with its latest quarterly results showing solid year-on-year growth across its businesses. His track record at Blinkit, where he guided the company from acquisition to breakeven, is seen as a key reason behind the board’s decision.

Industry observers believe this move reflects a wider trend among founder-led companies to professionalise leadership structures while ensuring continuity. Dhindsa’s appointment is expected to balance operational discipline with innovation, keeping the company focused on sustainable expansion and digital execution.

In a recent podcast, Goyal also revealed that after the acquisition of Blinkit, he had asked Dhindsa to step down on 2 occasions. These discussions took place during a period of deep structural and cultural change, when the business needed to realign with the parent company’s operating model. Goyal said the conversations reflected the intense pressures of integrating a fast-scaling venture into a larger corporate ecosystem.
