The European Vega C rocket is set to launch South Korea’s new KOMPSAT 7 satellite today at 12:21 pm EST from French Guiana. Viewers can watch the launch live on a common news platform.
The Korea Aerospace Research Institute has built this satellite, which weighs nearly four thousand pounds. It will capture very clear images of the Korean Peninsula from its orbit.
KOMPSAT 7 carries advanced optical technology. This is the first time a Korean satellite has included such a system. It will send large amounts of images to Earth in real time. The satellite will orbit at an altitude of five hundred and seventy six kilometres in sync with the sun. This will give scientists consistent lighting for their observations.
This launch marks the sixth mission for the Vega C rocket. If the mission is successful, it will support South Korea with better quality space imagery and help the country meet its national observation needs.
