Wipro has announced a partnership with the Indian Institute of Science and the Foundation for Science Innovation and Development to support research and innovation in emerging technologies. The company said the collaboration will be supported by Wipro Intelligence, which includes a range of artificial intelligence based solutions, platforms, and offerings.
The partnership aims to advance research in agentic artificial intelligence, embodied artificial intelligence, quantum artificial intelligence, and quantum safe solutions. These efforts are intended to help enterprises build secure, flexible, and autonomous digital systems.
This alliance continues a long relationship between Wipro and the Indian Institute of Science. Their association began in 1979 when they worked together on the design and development of microprocessor based mini computer systems.
Wipro and the Indian Institute of Science will form a joint research initiative that will focus on quantum computing, advanced artificial intelligence models, secure digital infrastructure, and autonomous network methods. The programme will bring together senior faculty members, researchers, and scientists from the institute along with engineers and technology experts from Wipro.
The teams will develop solutions with practical applications. These include autonomous network intelligence for future six generation communication environments, agentic and embodied artificial intelligence for manufacturing and robotics, and advanced optimisation and secure computing models for financial services and critical infrastructure.
Wipro Chief Technology Officer Sandhya Arun said, “By combining the strengths of IISc in advanced technical research with Wipro’s experience in applied innovation and industry solutions, we aim to address some of the most complex challenges and high impact opportunities, that global enterprises face in an increasingly fast evolving technology landscape.”
The partnership is expected to speed up the development of platforms for industry, scalable models, and new intellectual property. These will be offered to clients through the WINGS and WEGA delivery platforms that form part of the Wipro Intelligence suite.
For the Indian Institute of Science, the partnership supports greater research capacity, stronger industry validation, and opportunities for technology transfer and commercial use.
