As businesses increasingly explore artificial intelligence to improve operations and enable autonomous decision-making, Vodafone Idea (Vi) has introduced Vi Intelligence, a new initiative focused on accelerating AI adoption within its operations and across enterprises.

As part of this initiative, Vi has partnered with PwC India to establish the Vi Intelligence Lab, an innovation platform dedicated to developing, incubating and scaling enterprise AI solutions. The collaboration will bring together Vi’s digital infrastructure and PwC India’s transformation expertise to help businesses address real-world challenges and prepare for an AI-driven future.

Vi and PwC India establish an enterprise AI innovation lab

The Vi Intelligence Lab will act as a global innovation gateway, bringing together AI companies, startups, research ecosystems and enterprises to develop practical AI solutions.

Under the partnership, PwC India will set up a dedicated Centre of Excellence team that will work alongside Vi from a co-located facility in Mumbai. The collaboration aims to accelerate AI innovation, support enterprise transformation and encourage global cooperation around emerging technologies.

3 strategic pillars to guide AI development

The lab will focus on 3 key areas:

  • Agentic AI: Developing intelligent systems that can make decisions and execute tasks with greater autonomy.

  • Assistive AI: Creating AI solutions that support people and improve business processes.

  • Sovereign & Responsible AI: Promoting secure, ethical and responsible AI adoption.

These pillars will guide the development of use cases across consumer, enterprise and operational functions. Vodafone Idea also confirmed that solutions developed through the lab will follow its GRACIE Responsible AI framework, which focuses on the ethical and secure use of data, intellectual property and AI systems.

Jagbir Singh, Chief Technology Officer at Vi, said telecom networks have traditionally connected people, businesses and devices, but the next phase of growth will be driven by intelligence. He added that Vi aims to combine global AI expertise, strategic partnerships and digital infrastructure to help organisations scale AI across customer engagement, service experiences and business processes.

Multiple programmes to accelerate enterprise AI adoption

The Vi Intelligence Lab will introduce several programmes to support AI development and implementation. These include incubation projects addressing business challenges, proprietary AI capability development, innovation challenges and hackathons to engage global AI startups.

The initiative will also include a transformation AI factory to help move ideas from experimentation to pilot deployments more quickly. Alongside this, Vi plans to introduce AI skilling and workforce development programmes to strengthen organisational capabilities.

Through these efforts, Vi aims to help enterprises modernise operations, improve customer experiences and identify new growth opportunities. The initiative will also support businesses looking to move beyond conventional automation towards agentic AI systems that can independently make decisions and execute tasks with minimal human intervention, while maintaining responsible and scalable adoption.
