Vivo is preparing to expand its flagship smartphone lineup with a new Pro Max model, while also bringing significant camera improvements to the next-generation X series.
Vivo Product Manager Han Boxiao confirmed that the X500 series will launch in China in September. The lineup will include the Vivo X500, Vivo X500 Pro and X500 Pro Max. This marks a change from last year’s X300 series, which initially featured only the X300 and X300 Pro.
The Vivo X500 Pro series is expected to feature a ‘Zeiss Super Dynamic’ primary rear camera with a Blueprint Phantom 900 sensor and an “ultra-high dynamic range” of 17EV. The phones will also support video recording at up to 4K/240 fps and 4K/120 fps HDR.
The top-end Vivo X500 Pro Max will get additional camera features, including 3-degree wide-angle optical image stabilisation and CIPA 7.0 “professional-grade” image stabilisation. All 3 models will feature Zeiss-tuned camera systems.
The company has not yet revealed the exact launch date. The upcoming phones are expected to use unreleased MediaTek chipsets.
A Vivo X500 Pro model was recently reportedly seen during an advertisement shoot. The device appeared to feature a circular rear camera module similar to its predecessor. The Vivo X500 Pro Max has also reportedly appeared on China’s 3C certification database with support for 90W wired fast charging and 5G connectivity.
